During the late summer and fall of
1999 I was experiencing considerable chest pain. It was typical of the
"someone is standing on my chest" variety. My doctor was
concerned and ordered a stress test.
While waiting a month to got the stress test I
followed the suggestions of a friend and also a relative who both had
taken chelation. Dr. Ron Young, at the Centre for Preventive Medicine in
Calgary, ordered many tests immediately and requested that I come back
after the results of the stress test were determined.
After approximately two minutes on the treadmill
I was taken off and later the same day was in the office of a
cardiologist. After having tests, the specialist prescribed nitro-glycerin
and told me that hopefully I could go for a year before
requiring either angioplasty or a by-pass operation. I, of course,
immediately had the prescription filled and commenced using the Nitro
patch, with excellent results, I might add.
Shortly after, I returned to see Dr. Young.
Based on the results of the tests he had ordered, plus the stress tests,
etc. Dr. young concluded that I was a prime candidate for chelation.
After nine chelation treatments my angina pain showed a noticeable
decrease. So much so that my wife and I continued with our plans to go
to Mexico for our winter vacation. During the seven weeks we were away a
patch was necessary on very few occasions.
On our return in late February the chelation
treatments were resumed and at time of writing - one year almost to the
day of the first treatment, I can report that the last Nitro patch I
have needed was in early June of 2000. It certainly appears that my need
for invasive surgery has been put on the shelf for now, and hopefully
forever.

The cost of our "treatment" oriented
Medicare system in Canada is out of control. My not requiring surgery
has saved the health care system substantial dollars and much pain and
suffering to myself. It would seem to me that it is high time more
emphasis is placed on preventive medicine, by both doctors and
governments, and that funding be approved in Canada to cover the costs
of Alternative medicine, thus making it affordable for more Canadians.
