The 20-Day Rejuvenation Diet Program by Jeffrey Bland, Ph.D. with Sara Benum, M.A.
"Ever since 1973, when the research group I
headed discovered the role of vitamin E in preventing damage to human
red blood cells, I have been on a mission to understand why some people
get sick while others do not, and how nutrition, lifestyle and
environment contribute to this process.
I pursued this mission as
a chemistry professor at the University of Puget Sound from 1971 to
1983, as president of the Northwest Academy of Preventive Medicine from
1975 through 1982, as director of the Nutritional Research Laboratory at
the Linus Pauling Institute of Science of Medicine from 1982 through
1985, as director of the HealthComm Clinical Research Center from the
late 1980s to the present, and throughout the 14 years I have produced
Preventive Medicine Update, a monthly audio magazine for health
professionals around the world.
Why do some people living side by side with
others grow progressively less well while their neighbors remain vitally
healthy? Is it all in the luck of the genes? I have intuitively believed
this could not be the whole answer, because I've known of several people
with no family history of a particular disease who have been struck down
in the prime of their lives by a heart attack or cancer. The answer, I
was certain, had to be more than genes. In fact, science is currently
proving that genes play only a small part in the health and disease
patterns of most individuals. Nutrition and lifestyle account for the
rest.
The Rejuvenation Program uniquely blends these
components to create an individually tailored program which can add
energy, vitality and high-level wellness to your life.
Twenty years of work and an almost obsessive
dedication by myself and my colleagues preceded the creation of this
program. We developed clinical protocols and therapeutic food products
and formed a research group to test them in clinical practice. We
established a patient management facility called the Body Total Center
in 1988. Three years later we stopped seeing individual patients at the
Body Total Center and changed its name to the HealthComm Clinical
Research Center, where my colleagues and I continue to develop food- and
nutrition-based functional health improvement programs. The clinicians
on the staff include medical doctors, Ph.D.s, naturopathic physicians,
chiropractors, dieticians, and nurses. The HealthComm Clinical Research
Center is the only privately funded human clinical research center in
existence whose exclusive focus is the impact of nutrition on human
function. Our research has led to the development of programs and
medical food products that practitioners have used with positive results
in managing thousands of patients. At semiannual research meetings and
an annual symposium, medical professionals from around the world meet to
discuss the latest research, the patient management experiences they
have had, and the future of functional medicine.

The Rejuvenation Program, which you can
implement yourself without the help of a doctor and without using
specialized therapeutic food products, is an adaptation of the programs
we have developed for implementation by practitioners working with their
patients. This consumer program is designed to improve the health and
vitality of the average individual who feels he or she is aging too
fast, does not have the level of energy he or she would like, or is
plagued by everyday minor aches and pains. If your health is seriously
impaired, I recommend that you enlist the support of a health
practitioner skilled in the application of the therapeutic version of
this program. As you read the book, keep in mind that the clinical
version of this program is available, should you need additional help in
achieving the health benefits you seek. At the end of the book I have
provided a toll-free number you can call to receive a list of
practitioners in your area who are familiar with the therapeutic version
of the program I am about to describe.
I am extremely proud of this work and the
contributions it can make in improving health and quality of life."
